Speed records have been established by linking all the peaks on foot. This requires summitting 40 peaks, 15 of which are unmarked and untrailed, and connecting the peaks on foot, which adds up to roughly 260 miles of trekking.

Not surprisingly, "Cave Dog" Ted Keizer holds the speed record for the SB6K, 4d23h28m, set June 15-20, 2003. His site has detailed information and splits from the trip.

More recently, Rebekah Trittipoe, Anne Lunblad and Jenny Anderson, of Team Inov-8, established a women's mark of 6d13h31m. Detailed information from their trip is on their blog. The map below is from an article in the Ashville Citizen-Times about the trip.
